Chécy (45)

Throughout her incredible destiny, Joan of Arc constantly recalled the divine origin of her doublemission: Lift the siege of Orleans and lead Charles VII to Reims to be crowned King. Her passingthrough Chécy on April 29th, 1429, is recorded as part of the accomplishment of her first mission, when she came from Blois to Orleans, at the head of an army and a food supply convoy in order tobreak the siege of Orleans. The liberation of Orleans on May 8th, 1429 is still a miracle that is largelycelebrated in the whole world. In Chécy, it was from 1856 that the town council officially institutedcelebrations to pay tribute to the national heroine.
